With USC serving the first year of a two-year bowl ban, Matt Barkley and girlfriend Brittany Langdon, USC punter Kyle Negrete and other family members spent Christmas break in Nigeria last year. Barkley shattered numerous school records this fall, throwing for for 3,528 yards and 39 touchdowns this season, completing 69 percent of his passes and leading the Trojans to a 10-2 record. With all the uncertainty facing a college quarterback in the NFL draft — no matter when he leaves school — that might be the smartest way to approach the situation.
